Three hours down the drain

Upgraded my Arduino install to 1.6.2 today. Was using a really old 1.0.x build. Spent an hour or so upgrading my custom hardware directories with new boards.txt files etc. When it finally stopped whining about my incompatible hardware I hooked up my usbtiny and a standalone chip and I could both read and write fuses, burn bootloaders but I just couldn't burn any sketches without verify errors. Tried to remember any old tweaks that I might have done in the past to get it running but nothing. Spent a good three hours troubleshooting until I switched USB port and realized it was working perfectly without a new USB hub that I added to my setup yesterday. Someone, please shoot me!!

Hooked up a usbasp instead and it worked flawlessly on the same hub.

Usbtiny for sale. Price: 0. Come and pick it up and I'll even throw in a bottle of beer. If there's no takers by tomorrow I'll raise the price to two bottles of beer and an optional bad joke. :D

You are not the first person to get caught by forgetting a small detail.....nor will you be the last!

You have not given a collection address though it may be a little expensive coming from Australia.

I may be missing something here. New hub ... power issues?

It's a powered hub so I think the power should be enough but the problem might well be that the DC is noisy. Have not checked that but I tried powering the usbtiny from my bench supply at one point and it didn't help.

Weedpharma, I'm in Sweden so it's about as far as it can get :)

If you remove the hub, does it work? Or use the older IDE? Yes, I keep multiple IDE versions though I note that going back to 1.6.1 has to reload the new and improved Windoze driver.

I didn't make the jump from 0023 until 1.03 because of chip programming that I could do.

I had a friend in Stockholm who said the only thing he didn't have was hot peppers. I asked if there are any Asian grocery stores and sure enough he got his peppers. What a country to be happy in!

Yes, it works fine if I remove the hub. I don't know if it worked with the hub in the old IDE because I added the hub the day before upgrading the IDE. I don't intend going back to 1.0.x again now that I've converted all my customboards. I run a single version. The usbasp works fine with the hub and that's good enough for me.
