I have created a circuit board arduino that is powered by 12v, it has a switch that either directs earth to a 12v Led strip or to the atmel chip. Im hoping to be able to manually turn the LED strip on or use the chip to do it once a certain situation arises. unfortunately the chip doesn't seem to work, can anyone see any flaws in the fritz schematic below?
It is not really possible to evaluate that joke of a picture. For example, the switch contact wiring is completely hidden. Give me a real schematic.
The LED needs a series R of about 470 ohms.
It is usual to switch the positive rail rather than the gnd rail. This makes things easier to follow and is less likely to cause problems.

the LED has the resistors built in, so shouldnt be an issue, also all of the tutorials show the switching on the earth rather than the pos, i thought this a little odd but thats why ive done it this way, ill recut the circuit and try it the pos switching way
Solved, capacitor wasnt soldered to the board correctly!!!
