Tilt sensor to record hip movement

Hello,

I am very new to Arduino and need some advice on a sensor.

My goal is to record hip movement through a sensor. From the data, I'd like to change the speed of a sound. I'm not sure if I should use a tilt mounted sideways so that lateral hip motion turns it on and off or if a 4 tilt sensor would be better.

Any suggestions?

My feeling is that it would be difficult to adjust the tilt sensor to just the right position.

If its to detect each foot-fall, it may be easier to use some kind of motion detector like this:

Although that might actually be too sensitive.

If you wanted to detect foot fall, you could just use a piezo sensor like this: Not Found | - ScientificsOnline.com

Gyro or accelerometer would be best...
