Timbre

I hooked up some speakers and got them to play tones, but I was wondering if I could regulate the timbre (quality) of the sound. Timbre is the thing that helps us distinguish between a spoken A or an E, or a trumpet from a violin (even if freq. and amplitude are constant). Help?

Also, could I use this to make speech? Have the arduino say something that I pre-programmed?

Thanks.

OK. thanks. Can you explain to me what interrupt is? (on arduino)

But I don't understand that. Does it run other programs in the background? If so, can I use it with internal, not external, triggers? e.g. from incoming serial data

Does it run other programs in the background?

What is this "it" you are asking about?

Thanks for clearing that up.
