Timeout Error while uploading on ATMega2560

Hi,
I’ve a little problem with my new ATMega2560. Every time when I try to upload a sketch with Arduino IDE the following error occurs.
Loop-Back test was fine. My system is Win7 64bit.
It would be great if someone could help me!

avrdude done. Thank you.

Start with a very simple sketch, for example the Blink sketch.
Are you sure you have selected the Arduino Mega 2560 board in the Arduino IDE ?
Do you use the “Upload” button or command, and not the “upload with programmer” command ?

I just tried it with the Blink sketch but the result is the same. And it's the same with all the other sketches :( Arduino Mega 2560 is selected and I always use the upload symbol.

I have the same "timeout communicating with programmer". I'm using Arduino Mega2560. I don't how can solve the problem. I reinstalled the deriver but still same problem.

Please help me .....

hi guys ....

I have a similar items with my mega compatible board before, but after struggling over I have manage to take my board back in normal with changing the AUTORESET CAPACITOR 100nF

see here http://www.arvydas.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/arduino-reset-mod.jpg or you can google it.

I think my capacitor is defective.

Just give a try and hope you can solve this issue

My Mega2560 r3 came without any firmware installed, and it had similar symptoms. If the 16u2 chip and/or the bootloader need to be written, you might try the suggestions here. Be sure to note which rev you have, because that determines which USB chip may need initialization.

I had a similar issue, here is the solution:
