timestamp

I have an arduino project and need help in terms finding out the rate of change of temperature. I'm told i have to do something like timestamp = count but i don't understand where that needs to go and what needs to be done after.

I need to take the value of temperature as well as the timestamp. Then say 1 second later i must take another reading of the temperature (call this temperature 2) along with another timestamp (call this timestamp 2). Then to do the rate of change i must find the difference of both temperatures and divide by the difference of both timestamps.

Please help

How does one do this. If someone could provide some sample code or anything that could help and explain it to me, it will be much appreciated.
