I guess you use spare channels on your RC transmitter for this task, or get a transmitter with more channels ?
How you then start the engine ,which I guess needs a big battery and an electric starter and clutch arrangement to start it, might be worth a google - but seems an odd thing to do. You'll need to power the glow plug too.
This will slow your car down a bit.. or you might need a trailor, lol
You could use a servo to operate a mechanical switch.. I guess.
