I thought 'bro' was awkward. But 'boss'?
Depends on culture.
And I don't like it when people address me on the forum with "bro", "mate", "friend" etc. But I guess I have to accept it.
No worries mate....
Bro and boss are roughly the same vintage. bruh is much newer.
Even newer non-binary person could get deeply hurt when called wrong way.. :
It's getting difficult to navigate nowadays. Thank you sir or thank's bro is equally incorrect.
I did not say I was hurt. It just feels awkward...
To me sir is a bit overdone, but at least someone is trying to be polite.
Bro is not really impolite, but it is just not adequate to name someone bro if you do not really know that person at all...
I agree! Bro is weird to me, boss is almost ridiculous...
Hi,
British cop shows... guv... covers both/all genders.
Tom..
But isn't 'guv' normally used in reference to a superior?
What about a 'dude'?
Please excuse me if my question looks awkward, I am not an English native
Yes, but so are sir and boss
I thought a dude was a surf hunk that wakes up with a terrible headache after a party and tries to figure out why there is a lion in the appartment.
Anyway, I think I am too old to be a dude and also I do not think it is appropriate to name a random helper 'dude' on a forum like this... but that is just me...
No, not that one, I meant the carnivourous animal... in real life...
