I built a project to measure height, this places the sensor permanently then has a method to set offset to 30mm with a 30mm jig. I would love to have xx.x readings but all the TOF sensors i see return xx mm (1 mm inc). I have tried VL53L1X but unreliable for short distance. I have ordered some VL53L4CD for testing as they are supposed to be accurate under 100mm but looking for suggestions. This will be used in outdoor settings as well.
There are laser distance sensors (e.g. laser micrometers) with accuracy in the 10 micron range, but they are not cheap.
Correct, would need to keep price under $50 for the sensor to make the project feasible, sorry I should have included that in the OP, Seems lile laser is the most accurate / price and the L4CD is my last hope
