Tools > Board Menu Empty - Windows 8.1

Hi Folks,
I just updated my OS from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, and after a clean install of the Arduino IDE, I am unable to select a board from the Tools > Board menu because it is empty - meaning I can't upload to my board. I am using an UNO, and I followed the troubleshooting instructions to ensure that the drivers are installed correctly, which they seem to be.

I installed the software on a friend's Windows 7 machine using the same installation files, and the Tools > Board menu was fully populated - so this seems to be a Windows 8 issue.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
PeteD

Have you checked manage . Whether ur port detected or not. If detected in yellow . choose driver location & it start working.
When you post Also p[ost your snap shot of images . So we can understand what you making wrong

Thanks for your response AMPS, I checked and the port with the board was detected.

After some more messing around I did finally solve this problem. The culprit was the sketchbook location field, which was set to be the directory with my Arduino files from before my update to Windows 8. The IDE I was using before the update must have been an older version, because once I reset the sketchbook location to be the directory that contained the files downloaded with the IDE software, the Tools>Board menu was fully populated.

In other words, make sure your sketchbook location contains all of folders downloaded from Arduino for the version you are using.
