I'm a member of hacklab.to and I'm organizing an introductory course in programming and electronics to be held at the lab in Kensington market. The course assumes no prior knowledge of either subject, and aims to teach not just the practical side, but also some of the theory behind the subjects, with the goal being a solid foundation so that students can continue on their own. Think of it as "Everything you always wanted to know about programming and electronics (but were afraid to ask)."
This will be the first time running through the course, so I'm going to keep it small and informal - it will be a learning experience for me, too, with the goal being to see what works and what doesn't and produce a more solid curriculum. The upside to the students is that there will be plenty of one-on-one attention, and the course is free save for the cost of supplies. We'll figure out scheduling once we have our group together, but I'm guessing it'll start in January and be two hours a week, probably on a weekend, in the Hacklab space in Kensington.
If you're interested, or know someone who is, please shoot me a PM or look for me in the #hacklabto channel on irc.freenode.net.
