My multimeter has a 40a or 400a range to choose from. I chose 40a. Also it is one a them ones with the clamp on the end and being a person who flies continually by the seat of his pants, I fiddled around trying to get a reading using the two leads and when that failed I thought maybe the clamp did something so I put it around the lead to the motor and this time I got a reading. Does 5.57 sound like something you might have been expecting?
