Can I track when I get karma and what postings generate them?
I've been loitering in the darker recesses of this forum for years and have posted many, many inane questions, and one or two dubious responses. Suddenly and inexplicably my karma has shot up, without me posting anything particularly profound (not deliberately anyway!). Can I find out where it's come from?
Well thanks for the karma, but that wasn't my intention! I'm guessing from the lack of other responses that the actual answer to my question is there's no way of tell where/when karma arrived unless someones tells you.
I just noticed the same thing, Something is up with Karma!
For the last week it seems my Karma has been going up daily for no apparent reason. Like one or two Karma points per day. Even brand new accounts seem to be gaining Karma for some reason. I don't mind, but something's amiss.

Its been flaky for a while, i do my very best not to get any by being bolshoi, but they keep arriving.
Bolshoi, that is a vodka cocktail, so you can't be one, but you can have one. I think you're just helpful and kind, and now that is catching up with you. +1!

Hi,Whats with the A LERTs that appear on the unread/read topics bar?
I know I am one, but how will it help?
Tom......
I'm not sure but after I cleared the first 104 that I could only see 5 of, I got this and another this time.
AFAICT the whole system has a links bug. When I get unread posts notifications to threads I didn't participate in then it's time to check Project Guidance, Programming Questions and The Bar for the triggers that I got bad links to just in case someone actually needs help.
ALERTS seems to me just an added layer of cheese and capers on the forum spaghetti.
If it bothers me not being able to find the threads to continue helping new people then what the hell can it be doing to the ones perceiving abandonment? What will they tell friends and teachers? For the past couple years (since the last big change) it's been a mess.
Edit: OTOH I went to alerts, clicked that and clicked All Alerts. The list I get then is handy and doesn't direct me to threads I never saw before. Maybe a fix is being made.

(My current best guess is a glitch on the server)
cheers
I've noticed the same thing happen to me lately. I can't think of a potential reason why.
