Train Simulator output to serial LED displays

Hello, I am a rail simulation enthusiast. I am going to build an arduino cab controller for MSTS or open rails program. I have mapped the keys I will need to pins that will become buttons. I am going to use levels for brakes and throttle. The biggest problem now is how to output the game data through the serial and into LEDS

There will be a series of six LEDS.

The first will be for train speed.

The second for effort x1000 pounds

The third will be for track speed.

There will be a red, yellow and green for signals, one for emergency brake and one for overspeed.

Does anyone have any idea how to set the game to output serial data so I could map it to the LEDS and use it on my board.. I have found one example using processing on youtube. It's only for codemasters games.

I appreciate any help.

That does not sound like an Arduino problem. If the simulation program can send data ove the serial port the Arduino should be able to read it and then you can do whatever you want.

But you need to read the documentation for the simulation program or ask on a forum where there is expertise in that program.

Hello,
I dig up this old post, did you succeed to retrieve MSTS data to the arduino ?
