For logistical reasons, I need to do all the design work (Inkscape/UGS) on a desktop in my workroom, then, transfer the file to the laptop in the garage, which I'm using to send the file to the GRBL/Uno/CNC machine.
This is my current set up to 'prove' the system, and may change later.
Is this do-able, or is there a flaw that I don't see ?
John
If the two PCs are networked then you would not even need to transfer the file as it could be located on the laptop and accessed from the desktop
Thanks for the quick reply.
I've never tried networking two computers, so it may be a can of worms for me !
However, I'll explore, and see what it entails, so thanks for the thought.

We use to use what was called "sneaker net" where we would put it on a floppy then carry to the next computer. When the files got large we generally used R/W CDs
Oh for the good old days of 'floppies' !

If both computers have email, you can email the file to yourself and retrieve it on the garage machine.
Which operating system are you using? I use Linux and SSH (secure shell) for file transfers among my various computers.
I typically use a flash drive for such situations. For me its easier than connecting the laptop to the network.
Thanks all.
I think the flash drive will be the easiest way for me to go. Something that I'm used to doing in other circumstances, so special thanks for that suggestion JohnRob.
