Transparent OLED overheating when plugged in?

Hello everyone, I am trying to get a transparent OLED display to work, but every time I plug the VCC and GND pins into my microcontroller it starts to heat up a lot - the display was hot enough to melt the plastic foam packaging it was on.

I've checked all the pins and the power unit, which all seem to be okay. I've also looked at the product wiki, but can't seem to find anything. This happens with all my microprocessors, so can somebody work out what is going on here?

I'm currently using an Arduino Uno, and the display is a waveshare 1.51 inch transparent OLED. The display apparently can accept 5 or 3.3 volts, but I'm using the 3.3V pin to be on the safe side. (In the photo I've disconnected the VCC to prevent it from overheating)

Are you sure you don't have the display connected to the driver upside down...?
