Tried to install library and now cant open ide

I was trying to install a new library but by mistake selected the libraries folder and somehow it is in a loop now and if i delete the libraries folder from my documents it just creates a new one with libraries folders within folders until the name is too long for windows. and i cant open the ide, it freezes on the splash screen and after a wile it just says a problem occurred and it wasn't able to open. looked in the task manager and no instance of arduino is running, also restarted the computer, why is it always creating the libraries folder even after i delete it and what can i do to stop it? pleas help me, thanks!

Hello perez1311, I think you've got two possibilities:

  1. First of all, did you try reinstalling the IDE?.

  2. If it doesn't work, the is not a "general" configuration, but user configuration. You can delete the file located in "C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Roaming\Arduino" called "preferences.txt". This file contains all user preferences. If its deleted, the IDE will recreate it with the default configuration.

  3. Another option is to open the "preferences.txt" and look for the configuration that you changed.

Hope it helps ;)

Thanks for the help, but deleting the preferences file didn't help, still the same. libraries folder keeps creating itself and still cant run the ide.

and about re installing, how? it's just a folder, no installation...

edit: oh i see, there is a zip file and an exe file, i have the zip, downloading the exe now to see if i can fix it

Mmmm where did you download the IDE?

In the folder should be an uninstaller https://www.dropbox.com/s/bso33nyaxscp0cl/ardfolder2.png

If not, install the IDE properlly, you can download it here: http://arduino.googlecode.com/files/arduino-1.0.5-r2-windows.exe or in the software page: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software

downloaded from the arduino website, it's a zip file, unzip it and it is ready to work.

i installed and uninstalled the ide, there are no arduino folders on the program files folder nor anywhere else. but somehow even if i delete the arduino folder on my documents it keeps coming back with the libraries within libraries folders which is the main problem. i even uninstalled the ide with revo uninstaller thinking it could be some registry key but it stays the same.

im starting to lose it here xD

please some one help me
