Trouble uploading sketch to Arduino with Ethernet Sheild on

I'm running Windows 7 x64, Arduino Uno Rev 3, Ethernet Shield Rev 3.

I can upload and talk to my Arduiono fine without the Ethernet Shield connected, however once I connect the Ethernet Shield I just get this error come up.

avrdude: ser_send(): write error: sorry no info avail

I've tried with the Ethernet cable plugged in, unplugged, micro sd in, micro sd out but I keep getting the same issue.

Tried a search in the forum for "ser_send ethernet" but no results, tried to look at the troubleshooting guide and all the bits I understood don't seem to apply to this.

Anyone got any ideas?

For info I was trying to use the TwitterClient in the examples, I uploaded it without the shield, put the shield on and tried to monitor the output over the serial link but nothing showed up.

Egg on my face :frowning:

Try a different USB cable; sometimes they don't work.

I'm guessing the first cable couldn't cope with the extra power the shield needed ?!

I've had the same exact problem with ethernet shield, and your response also worked for me. Thanks a lot for sharing.

I cannot believe that was the reason.
I tried loading the programm, unpluging the USB cable, with / without the SD card etc.
