So for a school project I made a car that could drive itself using the arduino. Now I want to control it using two joysticks I got from radioshack that I stick on a breadboard. I could just use some super long wires and directly communicate with the arduino, but I would rather have it be wireless. I have second arduino that could drive the controller if needed. However, I have almost no budget. I talk apart a lot of electronics like tvs, and if I could I would like to interface using that. How would one go about extracting an ir sensor from a TV and be controlled by a joystick? What are some other cheap options to communicate with the arduino, because other groups are using ir sensors and I am afraid of signals being mixed. Thanks in advance for the ideas.
If it's just standard toy car controls how about taking the circuitry from a cheap remote control car and using its controller. The outputs from the receiving circuit would probably be digital and go into the Arduino, with perhaps some level shifting.
