Trying to save FlashMemory with false/true statement

In my code i use a lot dependensies using false or trur like this:

  _gs232LActice = true;
  _gs232RActice = false;
  _azimuthMove = true;
  _azimuthCCW = false;

But they take 4bytes during compilation. My question is there a better way to handle these and so preserve flashmemory space?

But they take 4bytes during compilation.

The 4 statements do. Each boolean uses one byte.

My question is there a better way to handle these and so preserve flashmemory space?

You could store all 4 states in a single byte, using only half the byte. But, then, you have more code to get the values into and out of the byte, so you may not actually save any program space. You would save SRAM, though. Whether three bytes is worth the extra code, or not, is up to you.
