I am currently building a table with ~133 touch sensors. The table was already built by others as a Kickstarter project and there the Ttp223 sensor (red) was used.
For increased range, the touch surface was ground down and a wire was soldered to it. I also tested this in advance and it worked. Also through 4cm wood/resin.
But now I have unfortunately ordered ~300x the blue Ttp223 sensor because it already has pins on it and apparently does not need to be sanded. But unfortunately with this the trick with the wire soldering does not quite work, does not have the touch range of the red Ttp223.

Can someone tell me what the difference between the red and blue sensor is? Or are they identical in construction?

Does anyone have experience how to reliably increase the touch range of the Ttp223? Need cs. 3-4cm
