Tutorial: How to control an iPod with the Arduino!

Me and a Mr White needed a fast way of getting sound out of a project involving the Arduino, and we looked into taking apart mp3-players but it seemed to be way too complex for our short project. We didn't really need any complex audio control audio control either, we just needed to play a few tracks or sounds within the limits of a playlist.

So our Teacher Mr Joliffe suggested that if we had an iPod we could take apart the remote and control it that way! So we went and got ourselves some opto-isolators and some solder inhaling later we had it up and running! More or less...

So if you have a project in need of some musique fantastique or some totally awesome sound effects but have no interest whatsoever in spending weeks hacking an mp3-player, this tutorial is the way to go! You'll be rockin your socks off before you know it!

iPods can be controlled directly from the serial port too.

Cool, seems a bit tricky though
