I recently got two new MKR wifi 1010 boards. I've been working on a few projects and have two other MKR wifi 1010's already setup and running as projects, so I know the drivers, cable, computer ports are good. But, neither of the new boards are recognized when I plug them in, meaning they don't show up in the device manager under ports/com or under other devices. The boards do power on, as the LED are lit/blinking just as the other working boards that I have.
Is there anything else I can check before I assume that these two new boards are both bad???
Dead? Dead means when you plug it in it shows no signs of life. Your boards blink meaning that they run blink sketch, meaning the problem is in your setup/cable
You may have knockoffs that use the CH340 (IIRC, do check!) instead of the ~U2 chip.
You may on;y need a driver to get those working. I bought knockoff Unos like that once.
Well...perhaps dead is the incorrect way of describing my issue. The board are not recognized by my comp. The cable, computer, and USB port on my computer are all working as I've checked them with my other working MKR1010. But neither of my two new boards come up in my device manager.
I purchased these from Amazon, from the Arduino store, so I don't think these would be knock-off boards.
The built-in LED is flashing, just like my other boards when I have then plugged into my comp. Double pressing the reset button does nothing on these two "faulty" boards.
How recently was the purchase? Are they within the return window? If so, I'd recommend contacting Arduino as the seller through Amazon and ask them to advise you on the situation.
I've always had good luck going this route, just remember that politeness and patience win the day.
