TX light always open and can't reset, the software won't upload

I bought the arduino starter quit... everything went wel until I tried the "mood cue" of the project book so now:

tx light always on
reset don't do anything
arduino software is bugged when I upload a new programm the upload never finish and the loading bar is stuck at 50%

help me please

Hold down the Reset button.
Unplug the USB cable.
Re-plug the USB cable.
Click on the upload button of the sketch you want to upload.
When you see the RX light blink, release the Reset button.

Just a thought. Did you put tape on the back of the board? No need to reply.
