TX RX pins use in Maxuino

Can I connect a push button to the RX(0) TX(1) pins?
if so, does anyone knows if I can receive this pulse in maxuino coming thru the RX(0) TX(1) pins?

does these pins work as the rest of the digital pins? what else they do?
Im sorry Im asking this but Im not sure and it is very hard to find someone around this country that knows much about arduino. Thanks for your time :slight_smile:

You can use the TX and RX pins as ordinary digital pins if you wish, so you can connect a push button to them. I wouldn't try to use the serial commands in a sketch at the same time though. I have pin 0 blinking an LED in one of my projects. The ethernet shield guzzling pin 13 has a lot to answer for........ :slight_smile:
