Ultrasonic distance sensor doesn't work accurately

Hello folks, I have a question:
I normally use Ultrasonic distance sensor, but there are some problems with it, it is accurate only when it is straight to the blocking object if there are any angel the giving data will be wrong, I need something better and more accurate , are there any distance sensor that can detect a square area or rectangular area rather than just a small point, I hope you got my point and help me.

Unfortunately that's what you get with ultrasound. How about a couple of extra sensors mounted at angles to cover the blind spots? To detect objects at an oblique angle using a single sensor would probably require some laser technology.

You don't say what you're trying to achieve, is it for collision avoidance?

Put the sensor on a servo so it waves side to side.
