Ultrasonic HC-SR04 distance sensor in a tube/pipe

I need to measure how high is the water in a 10cm (diameter) pipe/tube. The max variation in the pipe is 1 meter.

Is this HC-SR04 distance sensor suitable to measure this variation? I'm afraid that the pipe's wall indunce some noise

tnks

Well, those transducers aren't very friendly with water vapour.

I'm afraid that the pipe's wall indunce some noise

I'm afraid I don't know what that means.

the noise means that the walls could reflect unwanted measures.

It's possible to put a floater over the water (for best reflection)?

Well, water's a pretty good ultrasound reflector, what does putting something on top do for you?
