Ultrasonic Sensor System to Determine the Relative Position of an Emitter

Hi everyone,
I’m working on a project where I need to use two ultrasonic sensors to determine the position of an emitter connected to a separate board. When the ultrasonic emitter sends out a signal, the two sensors, which are connected to the same board, will receive the signal at different times due to the distance between them. By measuring this time difference, I want to determine if the emitter is located to the right or left of the sensors.

Project Details:
• The sensors are approximately 50 cm apart.
• The emitter will be located at a maximum distance of about 5 meters from the sensors.

I would appreciate your advice on which ultrasonic sensor and emitter would be best suited for this application.

Thanks in advance!

The first arriving signal (responding sensor) determines that.

Simple solution are ultrasonic obstacle avoiding modules with matching items and electronics.

The ones found on the HC-SR04 modules should work well.
