Hi,
I have an unusual problem. I opened a program and it is highlighted in blue and the cursor is not appearing no matter where I click in the program. I am unable to edit anything.
Hi @kirkr. Arduino IDE 1.x does this when you enable the "Use external editor" preference. When in this mode, you are expected to use a separate text editor for editing your sketch, so edits are intentionally disabled in Arduino IDE.
I'll provide instructions you can follow to disable the preference so you can go back to editing sketches in Arduino IDE:
- Select File > Preferences from the Arduino IDE menus.
- Uncheck the box next to "
☑Use external editor". - Click the "OK" button.
You should now be able to edit the sketch.
Thanks! I appreciate the quick response. Have a good week. Kirk
You are welcome. I'm glad if I was able to be of assistance.
