hi I'm trying to install Arduino Uno drivers on my win7 64 bit, but nothing seems to work! I used the standard files included in the Arduino software, I tried VCP drivers, downloaded from here: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm .
But none of them work. Online update is of no use, either. What should I do??
the usb ports might need a full power off reset.
- shut down the machine, disconnect the power cord
- if the system is a notebook disconnect the battery
- disconnect all usb cables from the computer
- wait 30 seconds
- put the battery back in if applicable
- plug in the power cord
- boot up
- reconnect usb cables
hope this helps!
Thanks but it didn't work! :~
I hit and solved the same problem while trying to boot up my first board Windows 7 x64.
The problem is due to Unsigned Drivers are not allowed by default.
I was able to get past the issue with the steps documented here:
http://wasntnate.com/2012/01/arduino-setup-on-windows-7-x64/
Hi. I tried the solution posted by "wasntnate", but it didn't work. I installed Virtual COM Port Drivers and then I tried to update the driver manually by giving it the address to the drivers included in the official arduino package, but it still doesn't work.
In fact, I also tried on windows XP 32-bit, and that didn't work either. I did the exact same thing. The only difference between win7 64-bit and windows XP 32-bit was that the driver was determined as "USB Device" in windows XP, and as "Unknown Device" in windows 7.
I'm frustrated. My last Arduino had worked just fine on windows XP. I ordered this one with the "Arduino Inventor's package" from SparkFun. Any solutions??
Hm. How about trying a different cable and different usb port?
with an uno board you shouldt install the FTDI drivers. They dont use the FTDI chip, they use a custom programmed ATmel chip.
if you didn't know that, follow this:

step 4
Hi I found out the solution!
It's just so funny the new SparkFun Arduino boards only work with Arduino v1.0, but I was using 0.22...
Downloaded the new Arduino software and it works!
So...
Yeah...
I sent them an Email and they gave me a bunch of suggestions, and that was it.
