Unable to upload sketch to my arduino nano

  • Check your USB cable. You need so called "data-cable". The charging-only cables won't work.
  • Try to select "Old bootloader" option in the IDE-Tools menu.

I've changed the cable and this time around i am sure it's a data cable.
i have also selected "old bootloader" but still having the same error

Is COM5 indeed the Nano? Does it disappear from the IDE ports selection if you disconnect the board?

Did upload to the board ever work? Or is this the first time that you use the board?

We don't know which board you exactly have. Some cheap Chinese crap sometimes ships with the 168 so you can try that processor option as well if you did not buy a genuine Arduino.
