Understanding the datasheet of a fluorescent display to drive with an Arduino

I recently got a 2x20 character fluorescent display (Futaba M202MD07HB) for free, and I was hoping to make some use of it. I thought to use an Arduino to write in the inputs to make it easier to control. I have looked at the datasheet, but I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to write in parallel inputs - I understand that I need to put pins D0-D7 on high and low to select the character, but I don't see how I actually put those values onto the display (using a clock pin or something like that).

I have a feeling that the information is all on the datasheet, but I'm just too inexperienced to understand it. Can someone who has the experience help me out or point me in the right direction? The datasheet can be found at: http://www.datasheetarchive.com/dl/76254b0f2bce8991013323093e1ac649308f27/O/m202md07h

Ok. I posted this afterwards realizing that there was a separate sub forum for displays.
