It would be nice to undock the tabs in the the ide for simultaneously viewing/editing of the tabs side by side.
Launch a second IDE. Tabs in the same folder are compiled together.
Hi @fluxanode1. We are tracking the request for an equivalent capability here:
If you have a GitHub account, you can subscribe to that thread to get notifications of any new developments related to this subject:
Do you mean a second instance of the Arduino IDE ?
I mean like Visual Studio. Either in separate windows or panels in the main view. Just look at Visual Studio.
This is how the split editor feature of VS Code looks:
Arduino IDE would have the equivalent feature if it was implemented per the request I linked in my previous reply.
No, independent windows .
It doesn't look like much is being done?
That's an amateur work around not a solution for professional software. Also seems to add other problems, I have had issues when running more than one instance of the IDE.
- Did you write the code? Why would I pay you, please explain?
- What are you talking about anyway?
- What is line 33? WITS, WellSite Information Transfer Standard is a standard used for universal communication in the OIl and Gas industry. But your so smart I figure you would know that. Now you should be embarrassed smart guy. There is this thing called Google, look up things before you comment. Wellsite Information Transfer Specification - Wikipedia.
- Oh and Visual Studio is free professional software and has the feature I am speaking of so why not have it in Arduino? It's not really a big deal but your solution has caused me problems in the past. Recent past.
- Is this something you wouldn't want or use? So you think it's a bad idea?
Got it.
Never. Acronyms are first introduced, unabridged, then placed within parentheses, and most often upper case to set them apart from errors, or other real words, but some marketing "people" have been adding lower case... the gall. I skipped the intro, so, I learned... friends don't let friends skip the intro.
I only included that as an example of undocking a screen. I did not expect to be Critiqued regarding the content. That little menu is used by oilfield operators that understand the meaning of wits. And frankly at this point i doubt that it will happen and don't care anymore if it does. It was simply a suggestion. Now since this suggestion apparently made such a stir I will go back to paying for Visual Micro. This is an example of the overall lack of character, grace and humility in this society.
Good day to you sir.
I was highly entertained by this thread. Thanks, contributors, for its existence.
