UNGAR soldering successor(s)?

I checked Mouser for replacement tips/elements for an old UNGAR iron and none show. I went to all the suppliers of soldering equipment Mouser listed to see if any picked up the UNGAR line but no dice.

The wattage looks like maybe 82 but I'm not sure.

Are UNGAR parts available anywhere, possibly under another name? Thanks.

Yes, I did see some on Ebay.

Have you tried museums? Ungar was popular when I was a child 75 years ago.

That’s dismaying. Thing is, the heater works but the only tip I have is for desoldering 14/16-pin DIPS.

:sob:

Can you still unscrew the tip? Are the threads still good on the tip? Might find a similar handle with same threads?

Yes, and yes. I'm considering a piece of 12/14 solid copper wire threaded in just to have something that'll get hot - it's not for long term use.

Looks like that element takes a 1/8" threaded tip. From what I can find, Ungar was bought by Weller, which was bought by Cooper, which ended up as part of Apex Industries.

I do believe you are correct. This page even notes the 1/8" size (Weller p/n).

I hereby bestow on you the Hercule Poirot award for the day.

Thanks.
