Uno enclosures

Yes I have found some decently looking enclosure. What I'm wondering is if someone has found a near water proof enclosure that is thin (about the height of the board + a gps shield).

I'm hoping to install the uno board on my bike and space is limited (plus I want to be fairly aerodynamic).

Cheers!

Plenty options:

  • Use one of those air tight plastic food containers.

  • Use a plastic housing meant for outdoor electrical outlet sockets

  • There are also die-cast housing available on the net with a screw on lid and gasket.

  • Make one out of wood and treat it for outdoor use.

  • Make one from thermoplasic sheet (vacuum forming), pretty easy to do at home or depending on where you live, you may find a small company that will make one (or a few and you could sell the others) for you.
Making molds for vacuum forming is pretty easy and normally involves only MDF.

I would go for the die-cast with gasket on lid option as it tougher and will sheild against EMI/RFI.
Which ever route you decide on, pay special attention to condensation.
Although the Arduinos don't get especially hot, there may be just enough of an ambient temperature difference between the inside of the housing and the outside ambient temperature resulting in condensation which your Arduino won't be very happy about.
Consider some drainage/breathing holes strategically placed.

Thank you!

Or better, find a sachet of "silica gel" form the packing of some other product, and put it in the sealed container.
