Uno for MIDI Foot Controller or Leonardo?

Hi.
I am building a MIDI Foot controller. In my tests i have been using an Arduino UNO R3 and everything is now working ok. I am now ready to build the "real thing"!

I have heard several times about Arduino Leonardo and about it's differences with the UNO.
But to my very untrainned eyes, they both look very much the same.
I was reading the specs of both of them and i can see big differences. I am sure there are some, but for some one like me, they are hard to notice.

One thing i did notice very well was that the Leonardo costs half of the Uno!!!

So, my question is:
Could i use a Leonardo instead of a Uno? If the sketch works on a UNO would it also work on the Leonardo?

Any ideas or advices regarding this would be very welcome!
Thank you!

In theory the Leonardo can be made to look like a native USB MIDI device, but in practice it involves a lot of messing about. What would be easer is to use a Teensy 2.0 which is very similar.
Otherwise there is not a lot in it, most stuff will work on either.

i have never worked with a teensy before, but it looks nice!
Thank you!
