Uno not recognized on Mac OS X

Hello,

I have an arduino uno, and a macbook pro running mac OS 10.9.2. The arduino had worked well for a couple days, but recently it's not recognized by the mac anymore. It's connected directly via USB, the diodes on the board light up, but no USB device appears (neither in the serial ports in the IDE, nor in the list of USB devices of the computer).

I already had the same issue a few days before, but it had solved itself after a few hours, without me having done anything. However this time the problem persists, and I can't find any consistent solution on the forum/internet. I've also tried to power the arduino with a battery instead of through the USB, but it doesn't seem to help.

Thank you for any help you may have with this issue !

I think I'm having the exact same issue, also from a Mac (Mac Mini). I posted about it here:

Is this similar to your problem?

If no new devices show up in "System Information" under USB, something is wrong with the USB to Serial chip.

If a device called ATmega16u2-DFU or FTDI232 or Arduino Uno shows up, then the chip is communicating with the Mac correctly but has another issue.
