Uno R3 as programmer

Hi All...

I'm thinking about using the Uno R3 as a programmer for the ATMega328 chip, which I'll plug into my own board. Problem is when I read the info on the Uno R3, the features list says it has an ATMega328. The photo shows an ATMega328, but the description talks about an ATMega16u2. Which chip does this board have? I'm assuming that if it has an ATMega16u2, I can't use this Uno to program a ATMega328 chip.

I got all excited when I saw the R3 with a plug-in chip and thought that I could start burning ATMega328's again.

Hi,
I think the reference to the atmega16 is the usb processor, the main chip
is the 328

Yes, I think that's what it is. Can anyone confirm that the ATMega328P with bootloader installed that SF sells can be programmed using the Uno R3? for instance, unplug the existing 328, plug in the new one and program it.

Thanks

Yes, that will work.
