Uno R3 driver installation on W7

On my machine at least, the Uno R3 comes up as an ‘unknown device’, not ‘Arduino UNO’. Selecting it and updating the drivers works fine. I didn’t notice any difference compared with other Arduinos or working in XP. The only problem was making sure I had the correct device selected. I guess maybe the following line in the getting started guide should be updated? :-

Look under Ports (COM & LPT). You should see an open port named “Arduino UNO (COMxx)”

That's what any device will come up as if there are no drivers installed. And yes, the online guide leaves a lot to desire ... Glad you were able to get it to work though. On with the tinkering.
