Unusual behaviour of TSOP 1738

Hi

I am facing some wierd problem while using TSOP 1738. I have connected the circuit as given in datasheet of TSOP 1738. (Even the optional resistance, and capacitor very close to Pin 2 of tsop).

But the problem is that TSOP is unable to receive any signal from the TV remotes. It is only receiving the signals when tsop is directed in the direction of Flourescent light in the room(received value is accurate, i.e. what I required as desired output).

But it is not receiving any values when there is no light. (Ya I know, it sounds some wierd problem).

Please help me solving this big issue.

There are two things that could be wrong, both are problems with your TV remotes

  1. it could be that they modulate at a diffrent frequency than 38KHz
  2. you remote's IR LED is at a different wavelength To the sensor.
