You must clean up the code in the simulation. You will see the mistakes if you try to run it. (part of the clean-up is to remove the comments around the button-checking routine so you can check the buttons... which work if not commented-out.
If you comment-out 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th "lcd.clear();" you will eliminate the blinking.
