UPDATE software, Ports not available; FIX

Using Arduino IDE 1.x

I updated to the newest version. 1.6.5

Now, no ports show up, no matter which board I attach.
How do I get it to see my boards again?

I think it is because windows 8 is awful. That's just my opinion.

The fix:

Use Device manager.
With your board plugged in, it will show up on a port.
Update the driver by browsing to the folder that contains your downloaded drivers for Arduino

Then it has nothing to do with the new version. You just never installed the drivers for your board :wink:
