Updated ICSP atmega16u2 programming from mega 2560 to nano r3

I need UPDATED info on flashing the Uno R3 atmega16u2 serial to usb chip from a mega 2560 R3. Everything i have found dates back from 2014-2019.

The official arduino site does not fully cover completely reflashing the chip.

I currently have an Uno that will not even show up connected to usb. USB cable swapped, power cycled, etc etc...

So I need to reflash it through ICSP. I know the wireing and have tried multiple ways from searches.

Even shorted the pins to reset the chip into DFU mode, still a no go via USB.

Reguardless i also need to know how to add a board to the boards list to be able to flash it as none of the other examples show up in boards.

THANKS!

As an engineer I can se the fascination in the project You're up to. Being retired having an other idea about the values in life I would say: Buy a new board/circuit.
Use Your time to work and earn money paying new stuff is often time preserving.
