Updates to ESP32 Info and code examples

Hello Everyone,

There are information updates and code examples now on http://ESP32Info.Info More code examples will be added soon derived from projects I am working on like remote control of backup generators.

Question: Has anyone done distance tests on ESP32 WiFi, to phones or routers? Expressif now has a version with external antenna connection : ESP32-WROOM-32UE with an IPEX antenna. See: esp32-wroom-32e_esp32-wroom-32ue_datasheet_en.pdf (espressif.com) I will be doing some tests with external antenna and need to find out what will work in an urban environment such as BAckup Generator outdoors with ESP32 based controller and user in 5th floor apartment with smartphone app talking to generator controller. Any ideas or experience appreciated!

Other: I have disliked the physical connection hassles for prototyping since the old Arduino days of "There are only TWO grounds??".. I worked on the UNO derivative I called "RoboRED" that has 3-pin connections on every I/O. And I met with the company that did that in China some time ago, suggesting an ESP32 solution. THey now sell a nice "Breakout" or "Shield" that brings all ESP32 pins out to 3-pin connectors. SO much easier than two breadboards!~ Looks like this: Esp32 - ArduinoInfo (mywikis.net)

Any comments, suggestions critique of any of my online stuff Welcome!

Regards, Terry King

Question: Has anyone done distance tests on ESP32 WiFi, to phones or routers? I would say yes and unless done in a proper controlled environment the results are not valid for anything except there setup. The project depends on the particular topology of where the genset and user are. WiFi can be moved from one router to another, I can communicate across the country with my phone, it is all dependent on how it is set up.
