when a new version of Arduino exists, how should i proceed doing the update?
Should I first delete the older version or could I install the new version and it updates the old version automatically?
Most people just install and then it offers to delete the old version.
Make sure you take a copy of your sketches libraries anyway JIC beforehand.
If you are referring to 1.8.10 you might want to try it in PORTABLE mode first to make sure there is no bug that may affect you.
If you find in testing that it works well for you you can simply delete the portable version and then install the proper way.
Not every one needs them but additional clean up instructions attached should you so require them.
