Upgrade Python 2.7.9 or 2.7.10 on Yun?

I'd like to use Python 2.7.9 or newer on my Yun.

I've not been able to install from source and the latest version available through opkg is 2.7.3.

I've read online that the reason I can't compile from the source is that gcc is not available and that one option is to cross compile python.

Has someone already done this for Python 2.7.9 or 10?

Is there another way to upgrade Python on the Yun?

Would it be possible if I installed linino?

Python 2.7.9 released on 10 December 2014.
Python 2.7.8 released on 1 July 2014.
Python 2.7.7 released on 31 May 2014.
Python 2.7.6 released on 10 November 2013.
Python 2.7.5 released on 15 May 2013.
Python 2.7.4 released on 6 April 2013.
Python 2.7.3 released on 9 April 2012.

Python 2.7.10 is working beautifully here. I compiled it myself.
