Upload data into arduino

Using Arduino Interfacing w/ Software on the Computer

So I am going to be uploading a data from matlab to arduino, and this data will be constantly changing. I was thinking about just uploading a text file, but I was wondering whether arduino will update the change in the text file continously?

Or is there any other suggestion as to how to go about this?
