Upload Error

I'm having a weird upload error on some of my students computers. The final lines of the verbose output is:

Sketch uses 1,208 bytes (3%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32,256 bytes. Global variables use 13 bytes (0%) of dynamic memory, leaving 2,035 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2,048 bytes. C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\tools\avr/bin/avrdude -CC:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\tools\avr/etc/avrdude.conf -v -patmega328p -carduino -PCOM25 -b115200 -D -Uflash:w:C:\Users\601082~1\AppData\Local\Temp\build63b7a20ee01024c51c2fbb6d7fabeede.tmp/Blinking_Lights_Pseudocode.ino.hex:i An error occurred while uploading the sketch

Has anyone seen this before? I suspect that it is a function of the school computers' security software because it seems to be hitting random students and accounts.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Enable verbose upload output in the preferences and try again, see if you get any more output.

What I posted is the final three lines of verbose output before I get the an error occurred while uploading the sketch.

Oh ya, the command line is shown...

That's weird - never seen someone post with that problem before.

Usually there is a description of the error that occurred on the line before "An error occurred..."

Which version of the Arduino IDE are you using?

-ide-version=10610

Is that 1.6.10? That would probably explain it - that one was a disaster. 1.6.12 is good, and 1.6.9 is good.

Good catch DrAzzy, I didn’t notice that in the compilation output. The issue is specific to Arduino IDE 1.6.0/Arduino AVR Boards 1.6.12 and Windows:

The issue occurs when you start the Arduino IDE by opening a sketch rather than the Arduino IDE directly.

The solution is to update your IDE version, which will also update Arduino AVR Boards.

It is 1.6.10.

I will try opening from the IDE vs a sketch and if not will update the program.\

Thank you.
