Upload fails to UNO WiFi, works to UNO

I can't upload a sketch to an Uno Wifi rev 2. I believe the board is alive, and that the IDE and cabling are correct:

  • The board is an Uno Wifi rev 2.
  • I've gone through all the recommended checks, including verifying board type and interface port, with no success making the wifi board upload.
  • The blynk-ser.sh script used with Blynk loads up and starts to cycle properly against the wifi board, which is why I don't think the board is dead and that I have the right port.
  • The same USB cable and IDE always succeed uploading to an Uno (not Wifi), which will then respond via the end-to-end Blynk stack using the same interface script.

Here's my upload messages from the failing board:

Arduino: 1.8.13 (Mac OS X), Board: "Arduino Uno WiFi"

Sketch uses 9212 bytes (28%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32256 bytes.
Global variables use 395 bytes (19%) of dynamic memory, leaving 1653 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes.

avrdude done. Thank you.

Problem uploading to board. See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.

You have an “Uno WiFi 2”, but your log show you have the “board” set to “Uno WiFi”, which is a different product.

Totally missed that that as it's in the megaavr menu, and I'm not yet up to speed on the differences in microcontrollers. Thanks so much!

BTW: really good job of including all of the needed information in your post!
