So last night I was working on some of my projects and was using a leonardo. Everything was working fine, but then suddenly it stopped. Now whenever I connect it, I can select the correct port and board, but when I try and upload it throws an error and says it cannot find the board on the given port. After than when I goto the port menu, no of the usb ports are showing up. I'm having a similar problem with my Diecimilia, when I connect it to my computer it won't recognize it as being connected and won't let me select a port. Meanwhile, my SMD UNO works perfectly fine. Fairly new to this, so its probably something small I'm missing. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have a USB port that "tweaks" a bit on the Leonardo, but I can push it through if it stalls on an upload for more than 5-8 seconds by hitting the reset on the Leonardo. See if using another USB port for the Leonardo and Diecimila or if you have an USB hub you can test. My USB hub works 100%, but the stock USB is 50/50 on my older notebook.
So after trying a combination of usb ports and selecting different ports (cu vs tty) I finally got the Leonardo working. However my Diecimila still isn't being recognized. When I connect it, the power lights up and then the RX light flashes a few times, then nothing. Any ideas?
Sounds like the FDTI driver is hanging up. I am not sure on Linux or Mac how to re-install the driver, but here are the instructions:
